Women’s Environment & Development Organization (WEDO) is committed to protecting your privacy. The information below covers what information WEDO collects on the website and how we use it. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us via email at anique@wedo.org.

What information do we collect?

WEDO collects information volunteered by visitors, such as information collected when downloading or requesting publications, visiting the WEDO website, signing up for email notifications and information collected when contacting us for more information about our work. Information WEDO collects includes personally identifiable information (for example, name, address, and email), information about organizational affiliation, and information about your interests. No personably identifiable information is collected about individuals without their knowledge. WEDO also collects aggregate information about website use, without personably identifiable information, identifying personal information, such as what pages and sections are most popular with users.

How is this information used by WEDO?

WEDO uses the information you voluntarily provide to help us decide what website content, publications, emails, and other WEDO information would most help you meet your needs and to shape our web content and email outreach. WEDO may also contact you to alert you about opportunities related to our work in the field of gender equality or to ask you to support our work. WEDO uses aggregate information about our website to help shape website content.

Sharing information with third parties

WEDO does not make our email list or individual donor information available to third parties.  WEDO does share aggregate information about web users and web usage with WEDO contractors who help us shape our web content to user interests and otherwise improve our Web site.

E-mail policy

WEDO provides forms on its website where users can sign-up to receive email publications and email notices and topics that interest them. No one is placed on a regular email list that has not requested subscription through these forms or in some other manner. Users can unsubscribe from any email list on the registration section of our website or through the unsubscribe link on any email we send you. As new email publications are developed, users may be sent an invitation to subscribe.

Security of Your Information

WEDO takes the following measures to ensure that information collected on WEDO.org is kept secure and is used as intended:

All data is stored on secure, firewall-protected servers either at WEDO offices or those of business partners that support our online donation and email outreach.

Data is accessable only by authorized WEDO and partner staff.

Sensitive data, such as credit card and other financial information, is collected on secure forms and transmitted using industry-standard Secure Socket Layer Encryption (SSL) technology.

Credit card information is retained only as long as necessary to complete the donation or purchase request of the user.  WEDO takes utmost precaution to protect credit card information. But users who prefer not to use credit cards for online donations can complete WEDO’s mail-in and fax donation form available here http://www.wedo.org/files/WEDOContributionForm.pdf.

Use of cookies

Cookies are pieces of information that are stored on your computer and are used for record keeping purposes. WEDO’s website does not currently use cookies.

WEDO’s enewsletter and donation system requires a password to access the subscription management page. For the convenience of users, WEDO offers the opportunity to be "remembered," by the system so a password is only required on the first access. Asking to be "remembered" by clicking the "remember me" or similar dialog box when asked places a permanent cookie on the user's machine. WEDO’s system never places a permanent cookie on the users machine unless a user specifically makes this request.

WEDO’s website provides links to several other third party websites. While we make efforts to choose our links carefully, we cannot take any responsibility for the content of linked websites, or for the privacy policies of websites we link to. Since we do not control these websites, we encourage you to review the privacy policies posted on these third party websites prior to any use.

We may amend this privacy policy from time to time. Your continued use of our website after the date that such notices are posted will be deemed to be your agreement to the changed terms.
